1.0 Introduction
This is just a short reference and not a complete manual. The
manual will be written later. Please report on bugs to the
address below. a general discussion folder is available on my
support site, where you can find some LIQ's (hopefully), and
leave all your remarks regarding the tracker. if any problem
occurs, report me to the address below, with the
problem/hardware description.
1.1 The Sound Devices:
The Sound Blaster Pro and the Sound Blaster 16 are fully
supported, in full stereo. note that I've written also an unique
handler to the SB 2.00, generally similar to the SB 1.00, but
might work better for compatibles, like GUS. (?)
1.2 Effects:
The effects that are currently implemented marked with '*':
* A = Adjust Tempo or BPM * M0 - Fineportamento up
* B = Vibrato * M1 - Fineportamento down
* C = Cut pattern * M2 - Fine volume up
* D = Portamento Down * M3 - Fine volume down
* E = Portamento up M4 - Vibrato waveform
F = reserved M5 - Tremolo waveform
G = Arpeggio * M6 - Retrig note
H = reserved * M7 - Cut note
I = Misc 1 (see list) * M8 - Delay note
* J = Jump to position M9 - reserved
K = Tremolo MA - reserved
* L = Volume slide * MB - pattern loop
* M = Misc 2 (see list) * MC - pattern delay
* N = Note portamento
* O = Sample offset * I0 - Vibrato + Volumeslide up
* I1 - Vibrato + Volumeslide down
Waveforms: * I2 - NotePort + Volumeslide up
* I3 - NotePort + Volumeslide down
0) Sine Wave 2) Square I4 - Tremolo + Volumeslide up
1) Ramp Down I5 - Tremolo + Volumeslide down
NOTE: The Retrig effect is not circular, though in ProTracker
it should be (but, never checked). I do this for the
effect is more usable that way (i.e. quicker retrigs will
work as well). in practice, no composer has ever took
advantage on the circularity of the Retrig... in future
versions there will be also a Retrig Control command.
1.3 Short Reference:
- To see all the available keys from the pattern editor
press <F1>
- <F2>, <F3> and <F4> allows quick screens access
- From the samples screen you can use:
ALT - L To load a sample
ALT - O To save a sample
ALT - R To release a sample from memory (**Temporary disfunction**)
ALT - D To select a sample from the directory
2.0 Compatibility:
The Liquid Tracker requires a 386 processor. for XMS usage, the
machine must be in REAL MODE, with Microsoft's (tm) HIMEM.SYS
or compatible driver loaded. if either machine is in v86 mode
or no XMS detected, Liquid will use the conventional memory for
samples. (later EMS support will be added for memory managers
users) as for sound device, you'll need either SB, SBpro or SB
16. in the future also all the covox devices, UltraSound, and a
special first worldwide introduced device (!)
2.1 Notes & warnings:
1) When changing the channels number in the SETUP menu,
It will cause the patterns look wired (no conversion yet)
2) Don't use the extanded video modes, unless you have TRIDENT
SVGA card! later I'll add support to all SVGA's, and to VESA.
(Hey! it works just fine for MY Trident ;-)
3) Many features appears on the screen are not implemented yet,
like 16BIT samples, hardware & software mixers, sample "kind"
(that feature will be used in the future, for example, to replace
all the instruments in a LIQ module without the need to explore
each instrument!)
4) Fine tunes, samples >64K - those has not been implemented yet.
